The present invention relates to a process for producing a reagent providing a mixture of various adsorber media, whose adsorbtion properties supplement one another in the mixture, wherein the adsorber mixture comprises: (a) a finely divided iron oxide and/or iron oxyhydroxide having a BET surface area of 80 to 200m2/g; and (b) (i) oxides or (oxy)hydroxides of aluminium, magnesium, manganese or titanium, (ii) Fe(OH)3, (iii) the ageing products and dehydrogenated secondary products of (i) and (ii), or (iv) activated carbon, lime, an ion exchanger, a zeolite, a copper compound, a zinc compound or a silver compound. The process comprises mixing (b) with an aqueous suspension of (a) and subjecting the suspension in the semisolid state to a mechanical shaping and subsequent drying, to achieve a solid state. The reagent obtained is used in the purification of fluids and particularly water. |
