PURPOSE: An information processing apparatus, a controlling method thereof, and storing medium thereof are provided to update firmware while reducing power consumption. CONSTITUTION: In case an information processing apparatus is operated in a first power mode, a power unit(405) supplies power to both sides of an updating unit and a receiving unit. In case the information processing apparatus is operated in a second power mode, the power unit supplies power to the receiving unit. A CPU(411) determines whether a packet received by the receiving unit is a packet for requesting firmware update.
