The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary cell made of a complex composed an olivine-type lithium metal phosphate and carbon, and that can achieve high capacity and good discharge rate characteristics. This method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary cell is characterized in having: a step for measuring the composition ratio of a phosphate compound represented by composition formula LiMPO4 (where element M is Fe, Mn, or one or more transition metals among Ti, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Nb, Ta, Mo, and W) and specifying an element for which the composition ratio does not reach Li:M:P = 1:1:1; a step for kneading a lithium source, a metal (M) source, or a phosphate source as an element source corresponding to the specified element, the phosphate compound, and a carbonaceous material or a carbonaceous material precursor to obtain a first carbon-containing mixture; and a step for baking the first carbon-containing mixture. |
