<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader having enhanced security. <P>SOLUTION: Respective conductive parts 51-56 and a fastening state detecting circuit 24 detect the fastening states of screws 41-46 to be fastened to a case 11, and a main control circuit 21 determines whether the order of removing the screws 41-46 to be detected coincides with the order for determination. The order for determination is changed into the different order by step S101, or changed into the order for unsealing by step S107 when an information code for unsealing is read.
