The device has two rotatably mounted metering rollers (10, 11) for oiling a lower side and an upper side of a band material i.e. stamping band (1), respectively. The rollers are arranged at opposite arms of a rotatable bilateral manually or automatically actuated lever (13) that is mounted around a pivotal point (27). The rollers comprise lateral areas, which are made of a plastic material i.e. oil-resistant elastomer, and a metallic material i.e. steel. The lateral areas include a cell structure, and adjustable scraper blades (16, 20) control amount of oil on the lateral areas of the rollers. An independent claim is also included for a method for oiling a band material.
