Provided are a network-based production management system and method, which can systematically organize order placers, product manufacturers, and manufacturing device providers. Information regarding a plurality of manufacturing devices, which are possessed by a plurality of production manufacturers, is stored in a database. Information on product manufacturing order from an order placer is received over a network and analyzed to define a factory line necessary for manufacturing of a product. The factory line is operated by transmitting information for performing works, including the work variables for a manufacturing device constituting the factory line of the identified product manufacturer over the network. Operation status information, which is received from the manufacturing device constituting the factory line, is transmitted to a manufacturing device provider and, when the operation status information indicates an abnormal state, a message for dealing with the abnormal state is transmitted to a corresponding product manufacturer. |
