<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce processing loads of a control unit when a plurality of HDDs are spun down. <P>SOLUTION: A spin-up control section 12 of a magnetic disk unit 10 spins up HDDs 11a to 11e when power supply to the HDDs 11a to 11e are instantaneously interrupted. On the other hand, based on a response to access to the HDDs of the magnetic disk unit 10, on detecting an HDD of an access destination being spun down, a spin-up control section 21 of a control unit 20 spins up the spun-down HDD. When certain number or more of HDDs are spun down, a separation control section 22 of the control unit 20 inhibits the magnetic disk unit 10 from being used for a predetermined time. While the magnetic disk unit 10 is inhibited from being used, the spin-up control section 12 of the magnetic disk unit 10 spins up the HDDs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
