<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera provided with a function of allowing a user to check from another view point how the user is photographing a subject, without requiring the user to do complicated operations in photographing, a photographing support method, and a program. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera comprises: photographing means; locating means that locates the current position; a direction sensor that measures the photographing direction; distance calculating means that calculates the distance to a subject based on the focusing position of the photographing means; map information supply means that stores map information; and display means that displays an image. A method and a program for supporting the operation of the digital camera are also provided. The display range of a map image is determined based on the current position located by the locating means, the photographing direction measured by the direction sensor, and the distance to a subject calculated by the distance calculating means.
