COOLING SYSTEM AND COOLING METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF FREE-SHAPED BILLET

PURPOSE: A cooling system and method for continuous casting of free-section billets are provided to improve the quality of billets by preventing inner defects of billets and uniformizing the solidified structure of billets. CONSTITUTION: A cooling system(100) comprises a cooling wheel(30) and a plurality of cooling nozzles(41,42). The cooling wheel surrounds a mold(20) and has an internal cooling water channel. The plurality of cooling nozzles are arranged at regular intervals inside the cooling wheel, facing the mold, and connected to the cooling water channel to spray cooling water toward the mold. The plurality of cooling nozzles include two or more types of nozzles for providing different amount of spray according to the thickness of a mold.
