<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared sensor and an infrared sensor array capable of detecting specific polarization without using additional configuration such as a polarization filter. <P>SOLUTION: An infrared sensor 100 as a semiconductor optical element includes a temperature detection portion and an absorber 10 thermally connected to the temperature detecting portion, and detects light incident upon the absorber 10. The absorber 10 has a first direction and a second direction different from the first direction defined on a surface thereof. The absorber includes: recessions 11 provided with a first period in the first direction and with a second period in the second direction, the first period and the second period being different from each other; or recessions 11 provided periodically in the first direction and the second direction, shapes of the recessions 11 on the surface of the absorber 10 being different for the first direction and the second direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
