PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission control device for reliably determining a fail of a releasing side friction engaging element. SOLUTION: When a first fail detecting timer passes, a releasing condition determining means 92 determines the normal releasing condition of the releasing side friction engaging element. When the releasing condition determining means 92 does not determine the normal releasing condition, it transits to re-determining control so that a re-determining means 91 uses a line pressure rising means 93 to set line pressure into maximum output. When a second fail detecting timer passes, a re-determining means 90 uses the releasing condition determining means 92 to determine the normal releasing condition of the releasing side friction engaging element again, in the state that the line pressure rises to suppress the slip of the releasing side friction engaging element.
