<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine performing water recycling which is excellent in practicality, operability or safety, or to provide a washing machine performing water recycling, in which sanitation is taken into consideration. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 55 supplies tap water to an outer tub 5 instead of water in a tank 4 when purification of the water accumulated in the tank 4 is not completed, when purified water is less than a predetermined amount, or when abnormality occurs in supplying the purified water to the outer tub 5. The control unit 55 discharges the water accumulated in the tank 4 and not supplied to the outer tub 5 to the outside of the machine in dewatering after a washing step, and keeps the inside of the tank 4 sanitary. When a specified period of time passes, the water accumulated in the tank 4 is circulated between a circulation path 32 and the tank 4 to agitate precipitate and is then discharged to the outside of the machine.
