<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regenerative power transmission device and a method for controlling the power transmission device having one-way power transmission mechanisms and transmission means capable of transmitting power only in one direction. <P>SOLUTION: The power transmission device includes: a drive shaft 2; a driven shaft 6; first transmission means 3, 4 shifting the power of the drive shaft 2; a first one-way power transmission mechanism 5 transmitting, to the driven shaft 6, only the one-way power of the power shifted by the first transmission means 3, 4; second transmission means 8, 9 shifting the power of the driven shaft 6; a second one-way power transmission mechanism 10 transmitting, to the drive shaft 2, only the one-way power of the power shifted by the second transmission means 8, 9; and a control means 20 changing the ratios of the first transmission means 3, 4 and second transmission means 8, 9.
