<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generation method etc. of a synonym list suitable for efficiently retrieving a retrieval word while expanding it to synonyms. <P>SOLUTION: In a generation device 1, a determination part 101 determines whether or not each of a plurality of reference words and corresponding synonyms which a synonym database 300 includes is included in any of a plurality of pieces of document data (a document data group 400) of a retrieval object. An extraction part 102 extracts reference words and synonyms which are determined to be included in the document data group 400. A setting part 103 sets an output priority to each of the extracted synonyms based on an appearance mode of at least one of the synonym and a corresponding reference word in the document data group 400.
