PURPOSE: A display device and a control method thereof are provided to normally display an image corresponding to a traictory of a light beam emitted by a pointing device on a screen regardless of changes of a reference position by automatically resetting the reference position. CONSTITUTION: A camera(310) senses a light beam emitted on a screen. An image processing unit(320) displays a first image including a reference position for calculating coordinates of the light beam and a second image corresponding to the coordinates of the light beam on the screen. A control unit(360) calculates the coordinates of the light beam based on the reference position changed according to changes of a display property of the first image. The control unit transmits the coordinates to the image processing unit.
