<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control data transfer to front end storages other than one front end storage and back end storages so as not to deplete the empty capacity of the one front end storage in a hierarchized storage system. <P>SOLUTION: A storage system includes a plurality of storage devices, a management storage device which is connected to the plurality of storage devices and stores at least a part of data stored in each of the storage devices, and a transfer control unit which controls data transfer. The transfer control unit acquires load information representing processing loads of the respective storage devices, searches for storage devices requiring data transfer on the basis of the load information, selects a storage device as a transfer source from the found storage devices requiring data transfer, selects the management storage device or one of the other storage devices as a transfer destination of data stored in the storage device as the transfer source, and transfers data stored in the storage device as the transfer source to the selected transfer destination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
