<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission and reception device capable of efficiently reducing a CPU load or power consumption in a state where image reproduction processing is shifted to a background. <P>SOLUTION: A broadcast reception device of the present invention includes an arithmetic processor. The arithmetic processor includes: an image reproduction function part for performing decoding processing and image output processing; and a parallel operation function part being the function part to be operated in parallel with the image reproduction function part so as to perform at least image output processing. The device also includes a display control part for controlling the image reproduction function part. The display control part confirms the load state of the arithmetic processor when a decoding processing performance indication with respect to the image reproduction function part is detected in a state where the parallel operation function part is performing the image output processing.
