The present invention provides a rotary damper equipped with: a hollow housing (10), one end of which is open, and the other end of which is completely occluded by an end wall (11); a bearing part (13) formed on the end wall (11); a shaft (20) that mates with the bearing part (13); metal plugs (30) which have holes (31) that support the shaft (20), and which occlude openings in the housing (10); partitions (40) disposed inside the housing (10) in such a manner as to be able to rotate with the rotation of the housing (10); a viscous liquid that fills the inside of chambers (71, 72) partitioned by the partitions (40); and metal vanes (51, 52) disposed inside the chambers (71, 72) in such a manner as to be able to rotate with the rotation of the shaft (20). The vanes (51, 52) are equipped with check valves, the check valves are equipped with valve bodies (84), and the valve bodies (84) are equipped with resin stoppers (84c) positioned between the plugs (30) and the vanes (51, 52).
