<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact device that is configured in such a manner that a movable core is moved in a direction contacting a fixed core even after movable contacts come into contact with fixed contacts and that cancels out contact repulsive force and prevents a reduction of contact pressure between the respective contacts. <P>SOLUTION: Upon energization of a coil 8b, an electromagnet device 8 generates magnetic attractive force between a fixed core 8c and a movable core 8d so as to move the movable core 8d in a direction contacting the fixed core 8c. Thus, a movable shaft 7 is moved in a direction in which an end surface of the movable shaft 7 is separated from a movable contactor 5, and, after movable contacts 5a come into contact with fixed contacts 3a, the movable core 8d is moved in a direction contacting the fixed core 8c.
