The link assembly has a sliding unit (5) that is movable relative to a base (2) of camshaft (1). A cam structure (7) comprising two cam sections (8,9) is provided at sliding unit. A switching gate (10) is fixed radially with respect of the sliding unit, such that slide tracks (16,17) of switching gate is made to engage with a slide pin (19) of slide unit. A switching unit (11) is provided for transferring the slide pin between disengaged position and engaged position.
