The present invention provides: a lithium composite compound particle powder which can be used as an active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery and has good high-temperature storage properties and excellent cycle properties. A Li-Ni composite oxide powder for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which has a BET specific surface area of 0.05-0.8 m2/g, wherein the atomic ratio of the concentration of an amphoteric metal to the concentration of Ni (i.e., Ma/Ni) on the outermost surface of each particle is 2-6, and wherein the concentration of the amphoteric metal on the outermost surface of each particle is higher than that at a position that is located at a depth of 50 nm as measured from the outermost surface of the particle toward the center of the particle. |
