<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for executing packet loss or frame erasure concealment in a speech coder which does not have any incorporated or standard FEC processing. <P>SOLUTION: A receiver including a decoder is configured to receive a frame in which compressed speech information has been encoded. The lost frame detector of the receiver is configured to determine whether or not the encoded frame has been lost or damaged or erased during transmission. When the encoded frame has not been erased, the encoded frame is decoded by a decoder. After a predetermined delay period is added, a voice frame is output. When the lost frame detector determines that the encoded frame has been erased, an FEC module performs frame concealment processing to the signal.
