A catalytic membrane reactor assembly for producing a hydrogen stream from a feed stream having liquid hydrocarbons, steam, and an oxygen source through the use of an autothermal reforming reaction, a water-gas-shift reaction, and a hydrogen permeable membrane. The hydrogene permeable membrane can be a silica layer doped with metal. An autothermal reforming catalytic structure for generating hy¬ drogen gas from liquid hydrocarbons, steam and an oxygen source is also disclosed. The autothermal reforming catalytic structure includes a support structure and nanosized mixed metal oxide particles dis¬ persed homogenously throughout the support structure. The mixed metal oxide particles comprise magnesium, nickel and aluminum be¬ ing derived from layered double hydroxide structures, which collaps after thermal treatment leading to the formation of nickel nanoparti- cles supported on magnesium aluminum mixed oxide. |
