<p>A cot for use on a drafting roll comprises a fibre-contacting layer consisting of a pitted surface and a body of butadiene-acrylic nitrile provided with a plurality of gas-filled cells substantially uniformly distributed therethrough, such cells being produced by the action of heat on a gasifying agent decomposable at elevated temperatures. The gasifying agent may be sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, diazoamino benzene, or a mixture of ammonium chloride and sodium nitrite. In examples of suitable compositions for making the cots, butadiene-acrylic nitrile copolymer is mixed with, in Example I, ground calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, stearic acid, sulphur, phenyl-betanaphthylamine, palm oil, sodium bicarbonate, mercaptobenzthiazole, and diphenyl guanidine; in Example II with carbon black, extra light calcined magnesia, zinc oxide, phenyl-alpha-naphthylamine, diazoaminobenzene, medium processing oil, and stearic acid; and in Example III, hydrous aluminium silicate, zinc oxide, sulphur, medium pine tar, oleic acid, stearic acid, aldol-alpha-naphthylamine, benzothiazyl disulphide, and ammonium bicarbonate.
