In a communication network 102 incorporating both circuit-switched user devices 108 (eg. mobile phones) and packet-switched user devices (eg. Voice over IP using the Session Initiation Protocol) having the same phone number, a communication session setup request from a remote party 126 is processed by a media gateway control platform 106 which selects the device (step 5b, fig. 5) to forward the request to on the basis of geographical location data (eg. GPS) indicating whether the device is fixed or mobile. The user may specify that one, two or more devices may ring at the same time. |
