<p>In this video signal frame rate conversion method, a video processing device is provided with a film detection means which detects an M:N (M and N integers) pulldown video signal from an inputted video signal, a frame rate conversion means which converts a frame rate from an inputted video signal comprising consecutive frames, and a switching control means which, in the aforementioned frame rate conversion means, if the film detection means outputs a detection result indicating detection of an M:N pulldown signal, switches to frame rate conversion for converting the frame rate from the M:N video signal, and controls switching by means of frames which eliminate the difference between the time required for frame rate conversion from the consecutive frame video signal and the time required for frame rate conversion from the M:N video signal. Consequently, even when switching to a pulldown video signal with many repeated frames from frame rate conversion from consecutive frames, no unnatural motion results because no backtracking of moving bodies occurs in the switching frames.</p> |
