The stabilizing device (1) has an electrical conducting path (2) with an electrical internal resistance and an another electrical conducting path (3) with another electrical internal resistance. The electrical internal resistances are connected in parallel electrical connection. The both electrical conducting paths have a common connection point (4) for connecting a power supply unit (5), particularly a battery, and another common connection point (6) for connecting a functional component (8), particularly a starting device of a motor vehicle. An independent claim is included for a method for stabilizing a supply voltage in a motor vehicle, particularly during a starting process of the motor vehicle.
