<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection system capable of making detected light reflected by an object body reach a light reception part with sufficient intensity without reference to the position of the object body, a display system with an input function, and an indication member for the position detection system. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical position detection device 10, a light source part 12 is a linear light source part which performs first illumination operation in which detection light L2 decreases in emission intensity from one side to the other side of an emission angle range and second illumination operation in which the detection light L2 decreases in emission intensity from the other side to the one side of the emission angle range. The angular position (angle θ) of an object body Ob to the light source part 12 can be detected based upon a result of comparison between light reception intensity of the light reception part 13 in the first illumination operation and light reception intensity of the light reception part 13 in the second illumination operation.
