<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a raw material for a silicon-based solar cell, by which silicon oxide-based foreign matter floating on the surface of a melt of silicon sludge can be evaporated and vanished for a short time. <P>SOLUTION: A melt prepared from silicon powder as raw material is boiled before pulling out a polycrystalline silicon ingot from the melt by the Czochralski method. By the boiling, oxygen in foreign matter comprising silicon oxide and floating on the surface of the melt is evaporated and the foreign matter is vanished. As a result, when a polycrystalline silicon ingot is pulled out by the Czochralski method, foreign matter comprising silicon oxide does not adhere to the outer peripheral surface of the ingot. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
