<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting and collecting container and a collecting method capable of collecting ammunition while reliably controlling leakage of chemical agent from ammunition disposed in the sea with a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: The lifting and collecting container includes a container body 30, a lid 40 for closing an opening part of the container body 30, a gasket 70 which is formed of a compression-deformable member, and closes a space between an inner side surface 33 of the container body 30 and the lid 40 from the outer side in the specified direction, and a gasket holder 50 for holding the gasket 70 between the lid 40 and itself. The container body 30 has a lid holding part 33b for holding the lid 40 in a relatively displaceable manner outwardly in the specified direction with respect to the container body 30, and a gasket holder holding part 34b for holding the gasket holder 50 so that the lid 40 is displaced relatively outwardly in the specified direction with respect to the gasket holder 50 as the water pressure is dropped.
