UNDERWATER HYDRO TURBINE GENERATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater hydro turbine generator including a shaft-sealing device capable of rotating at high speed without the need for a lubricant.

SOLUTION: A first sealing unit 110 of the shaft-sealing device 100 for forming a shaft seal between a hydro turbine compartment 40 and a generator compartment 50 includes: a first rotating ring 112 that is disposed on the side of the hydro turbine compartment and fixed to a rotating shaft member; a first fixed ring 114 that is disposed on the side of the generator compartment and fixed to a casing 10; and an urging member (116) that urges the first fixed ring to the first rotating ring. One of the first rotating ring and the first fixed ring is a pressureless sintered SiC sliding material, and the other is a carbon-SiC sliding material in which carbon in a surface layer has been partially converted to SiC. A second sealing unit 150 includes a second rotating ring 152 that is disposed on the side of the hydro turbine compartment and fixed to the rotating shaft member, and a second fixed ring 154 that is disposed on the side of the generator compartment and brought into sliding contact with the second rotating ring. One of the second rotating ring and the second fixed ring is a pressureless sintered SiC sliding material, and the other is a carbon sliding material.
