<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a merchandise sales data processor for easily determining whether obligation of a pharmaceutical affairs law is fulfilled by a store, when merchandise purchased by a customer is an over-the-counter drug, and preventing occurrence of trouble between the customer and the store, and to provide a control program for the merchandise sales data processor. <P>SOLUTION: A merchandise sales data processor comprises a message table storing a predetermined message in association with a risk category of an over-the-counter drug assigned to a merchandise. The merchandise sales data processor determines the risk category of the merchandise to be sold, and acquires the message associated with the risk category from the message table.
