<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive portable type air conditioner which is easily carried. <P>SOLUTION: When operation of the portable type air conditioner is started while dry ice is housed inside a box body 2 using a cooler box for a different purpose and is sealed, an electric fan 6 built in a cover body 3 is operated. As a result, negative pressure is generated inside the box body 2 and air in the chamber is taken in from an air take-in port 7 to the inside of the box body 2 and cooled by the contact with the dry ice, the cooled air is sent to the outside (space in the chamber) of the box body 2 by the electric fan 6 and after used for the cooling of the chamber, is taken into the inside of the box body 2 from an air take-in port 7 of the box body 2.
