<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform agitation of liquid in a tank in a relatively short time while reducing the load on a mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: A relatively high target acceleration α is set when an ink residual ratio Q is less than a first ratio Q1 (for example, 30%), a medium degree target acceleration α is set when the ink residual ratio Q is equal to or more than the first ratio Q1 and less than a second ratio Q2 (for example, 50%), and a relatively low target acceleration α is set when the ink residual ratio Q is equal to or more than the second ratio Q2 (S110-S150), and a carriage is moved to the same direction by repeating acceleration and deceleration of the carriage with the set target acceleration α (S160-S240).
