PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely display a line image that has a narrow line width in an electro-optical device such as an electrophoretic display device.

SOLUTION: A control method of an electro-optical device includes: a first a display control step in which first gradation is displayed by a second pixel by controlling a driving section such that one potential of a high potential (VH) and a low potential (VL) is supplied to pixel electrodes (21Bw and 21Bb) in the second pixel positioned adjacent to a first pixel corresponding to a line image out of a plurality of pixels in a case where the line image that has a line width narrower than a predetermined width is included in an image to be displayed; and a second display control step in which second gradation different from the first gradation is displayed by the first pixel subsequent to the first display control step by controlling the driving section such that other potential of the high potential (VH) and the low potential (VL) is supplied to pixel electrodes in the first pixel while reference potential is supplied to pixel electrodes (21Lb and 21Lw) in the second pixel.
