Embodiments of the present invention provide a light emitting diode (LED) video camera system comprising a movable video camera apparatus including a video camera having a lens. The movable video camera apparatus further includes a plurality of LED lights arranged around at least a portion of a periphery of the lens of the video camera. The LED video camera system further comprises an actuator for panning and tilting the video camera, and a control unit for controlling the actuator, the lens of the video camera, and the LED lights. The control unit comprises a plurality of drivers, including an LED driver for controlling lighting effects of the LED lights, an actuator driver for controlling movement of the actuator, and an optics driver for controlling zooming and focusing of the lens of the video camera.
