The object is to provide a method for producing a natural protein or a recombinant protein at a low cost. Disclosed are: a method for producing a polypeptide, which comprises culturing a cell which has, introduced therein, DNA capable of strongly expressing a taurine transporter and encoding a desired polypeptide, thereby producing the desired polypeptide; a hamster taurine transporter; DNA encoding the hamster taurine transporter; a recombinant vector; a transformed cell; and others.
