PURPOSE: Mg-Al-Ca master alloy for Mg alloy and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to micronized the structure of magnesium alloy by maintaining Al2Ca phase formed from master alloy in the final magnesium alloy, thereby improving the yield strength and tensile strength of magnesium alloy. CONSTITUTION: Mg-Al-Ca master alloy for Mg alloy comprises Ca and Al at a composition ratio of 7:3-1:9 and Mg of 85 weight% or less to the total weight of master alloy. A method for manufacturing the Mg-Al-Ca master alloy comprises the steps of: preparing components of the master alloy corresponding to a predetermined composition range, dissolving Mg, Al, and Ca, applying heat to completely dissolve the components, and solidifying the melt.
