PURPOSE: A remote controller and image display apparatus including the same are provided to effectively manage power by sensing the same pattern timing signals. CONSTITUTION: An optical sensor unit(240) senses light. The optical sensor unit outputs a timing signal by sensing the light. A control unit(280) computes coordinate information based on the timing signal. A wireless communication unit(255) transmits the computed coordinate information to the outside.
