<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of a curtain-like air bag for preventing an occupant from being thrown out of a car. <P>SOLUTION: An air bag system 1 includes an air bag 10 and an inflator 2. The air bag 10 is arranged to a front pillar 93 along the top of a flank 91 in a vehicle. The inflator 2 generates gas, and inflates the air bag 10 into a curtain shape. The air bag 10 has an upper inflation part 42 and an under inflation part 43. The upper inflation part 42 overlaps a front pillar 93 at inflation of the air bag 10.
