The aim of the present invention is to provide a method and apparatus for treating the surface of high-strength steel, which involve irradiating the surface of AHSS with a laser and/or plasma to remove Si/Mn/Al-based oxides from the surface of the AHSS, or modifying the surface of the AHSS, thereby enabling a post-treatment process, such as a zinc plating process, to be performed. To this end, the plating method comprises: a heating step of heating high-strength steel; a surface-treating step of irradiating the surface of the steel with plasma so as to remove Mn-based oxides, Al-based oxides, and/or Si-based oxides formed on the surface of the high-strength steel during the heating step; and a plating step of plating the surface-treated high-strength steel.
