<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce operation force required for fitting a connector. <P>SOLUTION: A lock arm 20 is provided at a female connector housing 6 so as to be bent. The lock arm 20 is bent and displaced in a process of fitting female and male connector, and returned with the completion of the fitting to lock to a male connector housing 1. The lock arm 20 is integrally provided with a pressing member 8. The pressing member 8 is assembled in a storage hole 17 of the female connector housing 6 so as to be displaced, and displaced in the storage hole 17 together with the lock arm 20 when the lock arm 20 is bent at the time of fitting. Therefore, the pressing member 8 pushes down a rear end of a tongue piece 15 of a female terminal fitting 9, so that friction force at fitting is reduced.
