<p>A power supply circuit for disconnecting a DC power supply from a backplane 40 in the event of a fault has a switch 10 coupled between the power supply and the backplane, for carrying out the disconnection of the DC power supply from the backplane. The power supply circuit can also have a delay controller 20 for controlling the switch according to an indication of the fault, and a diode protection circuit 30, for protecting the switch from reverse voltage transients. The delay controller controls the switch to disconnect the DC power supply based on the fault indication, for at least the minimum disconnection duration. The minimum disconnection duration helps guarantee proper power down to ensure a proper restart and avoid incorrect operation. The diode protection enables the switch to be implemented using less rugged technologies.</p> |
