ENGINE STARTING APPARATUS

An engine starting apparatus is provided with: a pinion gear portion that rotates in accordance with a rotation of an output rotating shaft driven by a motor unit; a pushing mechanism for moving the pinion gear portion toward a meshing position of a pinion gear of the pinion gear portion and an engine starting gear; and a bracket attached to the engine and including a bracket main body portion that supports the motor unit and the pushing mechanism and a nose portion extending from the bracket main body portion to an opposite side to the motor unit and rotatably bearing a front-end portion of the output rotating shaft on the opposite side to the motor unit. The output rotating shaft is provided with a first stopper portion for regulating the movement of a rotating member in the direction of the engine starting gear. The rotating member is provided with a second stopper portion for limiting the movement of the pinion gear in the direction of the engine starting gear due to pressing and biasing provided by an elastic member. The first stopper portion is positioned more on the opposite side to the engine starting gear than the second stopper portion, so that the shaft length of the rotating member can be decreased and therefore the total length of the engine starting apparatus can be decreased.
