A surgical stapling instrument (2000) including: a handle assembly 2010; a first endoscopic portion 2020a; and a first end effector 2030a, wherein several types of end effectors (2030) are used in connection with the surgical stapling device (2000) and are usable with different types of endoscopic portions (2020) and wherein each of the endoscopic portions (2020a, 2020b) include an actuation member configured to engage a portion of the end effector (2030) and is selectively connectable to a distal portion (2012) of handle assembly 2010 and defines a longitudinal axis F-F.
