PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground improving material from which an alkali portion such as sodium inducing self-fusion is removed completely to attain excellent durability, and which is suitable to be used for a countermeasure construction against ground liquefaction or a grouting construction for a rock bed, and to provide a method for producing the ground improving material. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a ground improving material in which not water glass used hitherto but an alkaline earth metal salt other than a calcium salt is blended together with silica sol not containing an alkali metal produced by using metal silicon as a raw material.
