688,270. Variable resistors with cam correction devices. COLVERN, Ltd., and COLLINSON, R. F. Jan. 24, 1951 [Jan. 24, 1960,] No. 1904/50. Class 37. [Also in Groups XXXV and XL (c)] The invention consists in a special form of mounting, as shown in Figs. 3 to 6, for the cam ring used in the cam-correcting devices disclosed in Specification 689,460. As indicated, Fig. 5, the cam contour adjusting screws 36 are provided with grooves 57 which engage the edges of corresponding slots 62 around the sheet-metal cam ring 35, Fig. 3. A copper wire 65 laced in criss-cross fashion as shown in Fig. 3, passes around the conical upper wall 59, Fig. 5, in each groove 57 and clamps the cam ring 35 firmly against the square lower wall 58 in each groove 57 with the groove mid-portion or neck, 64, Fig. 5, snugly fitting in the rounded end of the slot 62, Fig. 6. A portion of the cam ring 35 is shown raised at 65, Fig. 4, by adjustment of the corresponding screw 36 to produce an advance of the potentiometer wiper contact in relation to the control shaft whereby the resistance is increased for the particular scale setting of the control shaft. |
