<p>The method comprises introducing a sheet material into a treatment chamber and storage of the same on a support, which is composed of independently movable up and down support elements (4), increasing a temperature of the sheet material and bringing the same into a plastically deformable state, selectively raising and/or lowering the support elements for bending the sheet material, lowering the temperature of a bent material to solidify, and taking out the bent material from the treatment chamber. Glass panel (3) is plastically deformed by increasing the temperature. The sheet material is: mechanically fixed to the support elements or by vacuum pressurization; annealed after bending process in the treatment chamber by temperature- and/or pressure change; linearly supported during its storage; linearly increased and/or decreased; locally, strongly heated at the points, where a local heating is carried out and is selectively increased and/or decreased before the support elements; and locally heated with a hot gas stream, where the treatment chamber and gas are removed and introduced for additional heating as hot gas flow back into the treatment chamber. A pressure in the treatment chamber is increased and/or decreased during bending process with respect to atmospheric pressure. The bent material guided from the treatment chamber is exposed to a shock cooling. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for bending a glass panel.</p> |
