摘要 <p>A system for controlling a temperature of a generator 102 comprises a coolant fluid supply in fluid communication with the generator 102 and a heat exchange apparatus (e.g. plate and frame apparatus) 112,114 in fluid communication with the coolant fluid supply 106, the generator and a heat exchanger cooling fluid source 116. The system also includes a first sensor module 122 configured to determine a first temperature (Tin) of a fluid flowing from the heat exchange apparatus to the generator, a second sensor module124 configured to determine a second temperature (Tout) of the fluid flowing from the generator to the fluid supply 106 and a controller 120 configured to continuously determine, at a selected frequency, an operating limit temperature (Tlimit) for the fluid based on the determined first and second temperatures. Additionally the sensor modules may include sensors for measuring conductivity and pressure. Reaching the operational limit causes the generator to trip, an alarm sounding at, for example, five degrees below the limit temperature. The alarm may also be triggered by the conductivity measurements. In fig 2, Tboil and Kbulk are constants relating to the boiling point of the coolant and the properties of the generator stator windings.</p>
