METHOD OF LEACHING ZINC FROM COPPER-SULPHIDE CONCENTRATE

The invention relates to a method for the preparation of a copper concentrate suitable for pyrometallurgical treatment from a concentrate in which zinc is present as an impurity. In accordance with the method, zinc is leached from the concentrate with a solution containing sulphuric acid at atmospheric pressure and temperature not exceeding 105°C, firstly in oxidizing conditions; before the end of the leach a reducing agent is fed into the leaching stage in order to precipitate the dissolved copper.
